Is it safe to do a Brazilian Wax? top

Cleanliness,Sanitation and client safety is highest priority. While doing Brazilian waxing it is imperative your waxer NEVER re-use the same stick. In a single Brazilian service we may use upwards of 20-40 sticks on a single client. Before a client is waxed they are given a disposable towelette to cleanse the area. An anti-bac cleanser is also used pre and post wax. This also helps close the pores after waxing to prevent bumps. Keep in mind, anyone with Diabetes, Eczema , Psoriasis, Phlebitis and other skin disorders should consult their physician prior to waxing.

Anyone using Accutane will not be waxed for 6 months after discontinued use. Although others may have waxed you in the past, we will not under any circumstances wax anyone with the above mentioned conditions or medications unless we are given a written release from your Physician. It is your responsibility to notify us of any changes to your health or medications prior to waxing.

What is a Brazilian wax exactly and what should I expect? top

A Brazilian wax is a completely hair free pubic and anal area* This is accomplished at Charmed Salon Roseville by waxing using a special hot wax and special strip combination we have found over the years to be the most effective at any bikini hair removal. Hair needs to be about a minimum of a quarter of an inch or approximately 2.5 weeks or more after shaving at its shortest. The longer the better, contrary to popular belief. You get a smoother pull since all the hair cycles have grown out together thus will last you longer. A shorter hair is more stubborn (and more painful) since you don't have much to grab onto the wax! Is it painful? There are many variables to take in to account for pain.It depends on the individuals pain thresh hold, coarseness and density of the hair, medications being used, if you are near your cycle, caffeine intake etc... How longs does it take? Time depends on hair density and coarsness. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes the average around 25 minutes. How long does it last? Results last 4-6 weeks and hair is a thinner texture and more sparse than shaving. Scared of the pain? We suggest No Scream Cream, read about this great topical anesthetic under our products category.

Can waxing cause pimple breakouts? What can I do to prevent this? top

Pimples are a unfortunately can be a pretty common reaction to waxing. Men are more prone to breakout due to the fact that they have more oil glands. Common breakout areas are back, chest, upper lip, sides of face and eyebrows. If you are a first time waxer or don't wax certain areas very frequently the skin actually thinks it's "injured" and the skin reacts in a way to heal with white blood cells. If you wax regularly this type of reaction will reduce each time. Here are some simple tips to help reduce pimple breakout after waxing:

    * Make sure the area is really clean prior to waxing. For any personal waxing we provide a cleansing towelette. We also use an anti-microbial wash pre and post wax which also closes pores after waxing.
*Use a Tea Tree lotion on the area twice a day. Tea tree is also anti-microbial and use of lotion creates a barrier from any bacteria to enter freshly waxed open pores. We apply this post waxing.
*Avoid the gym for at least 24 hours and shower immediately after gym sessions. Avoid saunas, jacuzzi's and pedicures(after leg waxing) for at least 48 hours.
*Avoid tight clothing and undergaments post waxing.
*Use an exfoliator as directed to rid dead skin cells, keep pores clean and reduce potential for ingrown hairs. We offer to great products; Get The Bump Outta Here & Ingrown Exit.
*Make sure you choose a reputable waxer/salon with high sanitation standards that NEVER recyles sticks and or wax.
*Ask for a high frequency treatment post waxing to zap and kill bacteria on the spot.

    * Try a Vajacial or butt facial to deep clean those sensitive areas!

Why do people need anal/vaginal bleaching? top

As we become a more "exposed" society and people want to enhance the beauty of all areas of their bodies, people are turning to Anal Bleaching as the next step in their beauty enhancement routine. Anal Bleaching allows both men and women to look their best, especially in their most intimate areas. Everyone is different. Some of us just have different pigmentations of our skin. However, there are many reasons why discoloration of the anus or vagina can occur. Dark discoloration of the breast nipples and vagina can result from hormonal changes that may occur after pregnancy. The anal sphincter darkens primarily due to staining from the expulsion of bodily waste. However, the anus may also discolor because of hormonal fluctuations in both men and women. Shaving has also been known to cause darkening.

Do you wax All Genders? top

Yes! I am a leader in the industry for male & all gender waxing!I have many clients of all genders that wax body hair, most frequently chests and backs but the Brazilian/Manzilian is  the most popular request! We understand hair removal is for everyone and are extremely comfortable & experienced waxing ALL genders!

Unfortunately, there are some "undesirables" that assume this is going to be a pleasurable experience of some sort. This is a professional waxing hair removal service. We respect our clients, provide a privacy drape for male and female clients ask that you remain draped as needed and Estheticians directions are followed at all times. We DO NOT tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind at any timed and will terminate the session immediately at our discretion. You will still be responsible for full payment of your scheduled appointment.

Why is waxing by my nail person so much less than salons? Whats the difference? top

Nail techs/Manicurists are NOT licensed in the state of CA to perform any waxing services. Only Cosmetologists(Hair Stylists) & Estheticians are licensed to do waxing services. A license shows we have been trained to perform this service safely and are knowledgeable of sanitation requirements pertaining to this service. Basically the lower price your paying is for unlicensed work and most often you are being waxed in a chair out in the open vs a private room. They may do a great job but just be observant next time. Are they using clean implements? Do they reuse the stick and contaminate the wax?

I'm pregnant, can I still get waxed? top

Absolutely! With all those Doctor Visits many of our clients actually wax more frequently when pregnant. Be aware that because of the increased blood flow when pregnant you may (or may not) experience some minor bruising from waxing. Consult your physician prior to waxing.

You have great prices! Do you charge a membership fee? top

Charmed Salon offers quality services at affordable prices everyday! We do NOT charge a membership fee. Although it may look like these places have unbelievable pricing, when you add in your monthly fee plus your "discounted" rate most prices are more than Charmed Salon's regular everyday pricing. We do however offer packages; Buy 3 get 1 free(February/December) and Buy 6 get 1 free(year round). These packages are great for our frequent clients that want to come more often, save money and are not obligated to a monthly charge.

How did Anal/Vaginal Bleaching start? top

Dark discoloration of the anus and vagina believe it or not has been a concern for many people! We brighten up the private parts of everyone, mainly just regular people like you and I!

How long do Eyelash Extensions last? Do they look fake? What should I expect? top

Charmed Salon uses 3-D Eyelash extensions, a leading brand in the beauty industry.3-D Eyelash Extensions can last indefinitely with proper home care and salon maintenance. Refills are recommended every 2- 3 weeks to fill in sparse areas from natural lashes lost during normal life cycle, oilier skin etc... When booking your eyelash extension appointment please keep in mind there is a 2 day aftercare home maintenance! The 2 days following your extension appointment are critical! No swimming, steaming, excessive sweating etc...The adhesive requires 2 full days to dry so this period is critical to the life of your new lashes.Once the 2 days have passed you may resume regular activities. In my experience I have found the clients that are most careful and baby their lashes lose the fewest and go the longest between refills. Charmed Salons Eyelash Extension clients feel their new eyelash extensions look like completely natural lashes that are longer and thicker and love their new look! Almost all have said they do not wear mascara anymore and that it saves so much time getting ready! We do NOT use strips, flares or clusters as these weigh down and damage the eyelashes. Although a tedious process we do use individual lashes. Individuals look and feel more natural and don't damage the natural lash. If you have a concern with sensitive eyes please come in for a patch test prior to your appointment.

What makes your Anal/Vaginal"Bleach" lightening gel better than others? top

It is the only 100% safe, natural and gentle lightening gel specifically formulated for use on the sensitive skin of the anal and vaginal areas. Also works on breasts, nipples, underarms and faces. Simple to use, it does not use any harsh chemicals like hydroquinine or kojic acid which can irritate and cause side effects. It is simply the ultimate product for anal "bleaching". Can be used after waxing and in the comfort and privacy of your home.

Why Do We Need Facials? top

Facials are often thought of as a luxury but are actually more of a necessity! Our faces are the first things people see. Great skin increases self confidence and self esteem. Dead skin accumulates on the skin surface daily. Skin with an over abundance of dead skin lacks radiance and begins to look dull and tired. This accumulation of dead skin cells also makes it difficult for skin to breathe. Once this  happens pores get clogged and toxins and impurities become trapped. At this point a professional cleansing facial from a Charmed Salon Esthetician could greatly benefit your skin! Charmed Salons Estheticians will do an evaluation of your skin and help decide what products or type of exfoliation would be most beneficial. Facials are recommended every 4-6 weeks to assist in removing impurities and keep skin looking vibrant and healthy!

    Is Anal/Vaginal "bleaching"safe? top

Yes, if you use the right product. You have to find a gentle, all natural product specially formulated for Anal "Bleaching" brightening and made for use in the intimate areas.

BEWARE!There are a number of products available that have been used for this purpose, but many have harsh and potentially hazardous chemicals as their active ingredients and they were never intended for use on sensitive areas such as the anus or vagina. Many of these products have been used by African-American women to lighten their skin. But these chemicals can have some harsh side effects such as anal burning and scarring. This, in turn, could lead to anal incontinence or an inability to pass stools at all. We suggest you avoid products with these chemicals.

Am I Supposed to tip? top

Tipping is up to each individual client. We are a service industry and most clients tip any where from 0%-20% of the service price.  The average is about 15%, similar to tipping at a restaurant for service. Charmed Salon Roseville values all of its clients regardless of whether they decide to tip or not!

Why is it so important to cancel 24 hours or more for an appointment? top

Most people don't realize that most of us in the beauty industry are paid by or for a portion of an appointment. We are not paid an hourly wage therefore missed appointments due to no shows, last minute cancellations etc...really effect our pocket books! Most often we have a cancellation list and can fill an appointment if given adequate notice of 24 hours or more. Please keep that in mind when scheduling with any hairstylist, Esthetician or Massage Therapist. Clients with a past history of no shows will be asked to make a credit card deposit to secure any future appointments.

Do you offer on location Bridal Hair and Makeup? top

Yes! The Charmed Salon stylists and makeup artists can go on location for your Bridal Hair and Makeup needs. We do charge an additional fee on top of the service fee for gas and travel time. The amount will vary based on the actual location.

Who is the best candidate for a Brazilian Blowout? top

It has been our experience, that good candidates for the Brazilian Blowout are anyone who has frizzy, damaged or processed hair. We have performed the treatment on every hair type (fine/course/frizzy, curly), as well as hair that has been permed, Japanese straightened and extensions.  In doing so, we have found that with proper communication and a well considered application, everyone can benefit from the Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatment.

What kind of look will you get from the Brazilian Blowout? top

The hair will be left totally frizz-free, shiny, effortlessly manageable and with plenty of body and bounce.  There will still be the option to wear hair curly/wavy (depending on the hair type) and the freedom to blow dry hair smooth and straight in a fraction of the time invested prior to receiving the treatment.

Can I still receive a Brazilian Blowout if I have highlights and/or color? top

Yes, the Brazilian Blowout will actually improve the health of color-treated/highlighted hair by conditioning the hair while sealing the cuticle for enhanced color, reduced frizz and radiant shine.

Is the Brazilian Blowout going to make my hair straight? top

If your hair is wavy, the Brazilian Blowout will make your hair appear naturally straight and healthy. If your hair is very curly, it will minimize frizz while enhancing the appearance of the natural wave/curl. If you have straight, frizzy hair, this treatment will eliminate frizz and promote radiant shine.

How long does the Brazilian Blowout last? top

The Brazilian Blowout will last for 10-12 weeks if the Acai After-Care Maintenance product line is used. The Brazilian Blowout is a cumulative treatment, in that the more you receive it, the healthier the hair will be and the longer the result will last.

Can you apply the Brazilian Blowout directly on top of other relaxers and strengtheners? top

Yes. The Brazilian Blowout actually works best on chemically treated hair, and helps to improve the hairs condition by fortifying each strand with essential amino acids.
The Brazilian Blowout works great directly on top of a relaxer. Perform the relaxer first, Brazilian Blowout next, and then neutralize at the very end of both treatments.
The Brazilian Blowout is great to perform when someone is trying to move away from having relaxers or Japanese straighteners.  It puts movement back into the hair, allowing the hair to look its best.

Will my hair lose volume if I receive the Brazilian Blowout? top

No, your hair will not lose volume as a result of receiving the Brazilian Blowout. Your hair will maintain its natural volume and you will still receive great bend and memory when blow-drying and/or using a curling iron.

Will my hair return to its original state after the Brazilian Blowout treatment has completed its life cycle? top

Yes, the hair will revert to its original state once the Brazilian Blowout treatment has completed its life cycle of 10-12 weeks, however, the condition of the hair will actually improve as a result of the fortifying and conditioning nature of the product.

Can you color your hair the same day you receive a Brazilian Blowout? top

Yes, however, you must color your hair prior to having the Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatment. If you are coloring hair dark brunette or red, you will want to color the hair a shade darker than you otherwise would, as the hair color will experience fading during the Brazilian Blowout treatment.

Can you swim in the pool or ocean after you have the Brazilian Blowout treatment? top

Yes, you can swim in either the pool or the ocean after you receive the Brazilian Blowout treatment, however, the treatment may be slightly compromised if you swim on a regular basis. We recommend that you apply the Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Serum on the hair prior to swimming in order to act as a protective barrier to maintain the smoothest possible result for the longest period of time.

How soon can I wash my hair after the Brazilian Blowout treatment? top

You can wash your hair immediately after the Brazilian Blowout treatment, or as you would normally.

Can I receive the Brazilian Blowout if I have over-processed blonde hair? What if my hair is platinum blonde? top

It is important for every stylist to assess the condition of the client’s hair to make sure it is in a healthy enough state to apply extreme heat through the use of a flat iron. If it is felt that the hair is in questionable condition, the recommendation is to turn the flat iron down from 450 degrees to approx. 380-420. The stylist will have to determine the appropriate amount of heat to apply.

Can you perform a Brazilian Blowout on extensions? top

Yes, the Brazilian Blowout performs perfectly on hair extensions. It would be best for the stylist to perform the Brazilian Blowout separately on the extensions prior to putting them into the hair. If you wish to perform the treatment on extensions that are already in the hair, the stylist will need to be extremely careful when applying the solution to the bonded area. Brazilian Blowout solution acts as a conditioning agent, and may create slip resulting in the extensions separating from the hair. If the stylist is careful and works to first separate the extension hair from the client’s own hair, a great result can be achieved.

Can I receive a Brazilian Blowout if I am pregnant or breastfeeding? top

There have been no clinical tests performed on the safety of performing the Brazilian Blowout on pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. As a result, we do advise against pregnant or breastfeeding women receiving the Brazilian Blowout treatment.

What is the active chemical in the Brazilian Blowout solution that makes it work so well? top

The Brazilian Blowout smooths the hair through the use of a proprietary polymer system that bonds amino acids to the surface of the hair.  This treatment is 100% salon safe. What makes the Brazilian Blowout treatment effective is our use of the Super Nutrient Complex in conjunction with a proprietary polymer system. This combination is what rounds the follicle, smooths the cuticle and repairs any preexisting damage.

How is the Brazilian Blowout different from the Japanese straightening method many people are familiar with? top

Japanese hair straightening changes the actual structure of the hair.  In doing so, there is an obvious difference between the new hair growth and the hair that has been treated, resulting in a life-long commitment to continuing the straightener or cutting hair off (if client is unhappy with the result).  This service can also leave the hair flat, too straight and with little to no shine or luster. The hair's integrity seems to be compromised, and after a few treatments, the hair appears to be in an unhealthy state.

    What is Anal/Vaginal "Bleaching"? top

Anal Bleaching/lightening is the process of brightening the skin around the intimate areas. Its not actually bleaching but like a skin brightening facial for your intimate areas using products meant for the intimate areas. This service is best combined with waxing since shaving is more abrasive and can cause pigmentation. After care products and repeat sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results.
